In a move to enhance state services, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, distributed a fleet of vehicles on Friday, including cars, ambulances, and fire-fighting vans to various beneficiaries across the state.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja, saw Governor Bello presenting 25 ambulances to local governments, with each of the 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) receiving one for their Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs). Additionally, three ambulances were allocated to the Referral Hospitals in the three senatorial districts, while one went to Kogi Specialist Hospital.
Lawmakers and judges were not left out of the gesture. The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Umar Yusuf, received a Jeep and two supporting cars, while the deputy speaker, majority leader, and the remaining 22 members each got one vehicle.
The judiciary also benefited from the distribution, with nine cars earmarked for judges.
Governor Bello expressed the intention behind the generous distribution, stating that it aimed to encourage and motivate the beneficiaries to excel in their respective roles, contributing to the overall development and well-being of the state. He commended the hard work and commitment of the recipients, acknowledging their dedication to the progress of Kogi State.
The vehicles, spanning various brands, makes, and categories, are expected to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of services provided by lawmakers, judges, and emergency response teams across the state. The addition of 25 ambulances and three Fire Fighting Vans is anticipated to strengthen healthcare and emergency services, furthering the state’s commitment to public welfare and safety.
