Guinness World Records (GWR) has issued a statement advising Nigerians and all individuals interested in breaking records or participating in “record-a-thons” to obtain official approval from their team before embarking on such endeavors. GWR, a renowned British reference book that annually publishes world records, stressed the importance of seeking record title approval before attempting to break any existing records.
In a tweet verifying world records on Twitter, GWR expressed their appreciation for the enthusiasm behind record-a-thons but emphasized the necessity of obtaining official approval from their team prior to attempting marathon records. They urged individuals to connect with GWR to ensure their record attempts align with the required guidelines and criteria.
This advice from GWR comes after they previously advised prospective record breakers to confirm their world record titles with their team before attempting any records. The organization made this announcement through their official Twitter handle, emphasizing the importance of receiving confirmation from GWR prior to pursuing record-breaking attempts.
In recent news, Chef Dammy Adeparusi successfully achieved her goal of cooking for 120 consecutive hours amid celebration and criticism in June in Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State. Her achievement followed that of another Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, who currently holds the world record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, which stands at 93 hours and 11 minutes.
