A classroom teacher, Medinat Ibrahim, yesterday narrated why she faked her kidnap.
She said lack of fatherly care and loss of a dear mother informed her decision to conspire with two accomplices to extract money from her father.
Medinat, 24, who hails from Oyo State, accused her stepmother of maltreatment since the death of her mother.
She said she faked her kidnap to enable her get money to offset debts allegedly incurred during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Medinat said her business had collapsed, adding that salaries at the private school where she teaches are not regular.
Parading Medinat and her accomplices, Amudalat Wahab and Hammed Lekqn, in Ilorin, police spokesman Ajayi Okasanmi said the suspects would be charged with criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.
