Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on Monday announced a suspension of services at its headquarters in Sauka, Abuja, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
The closure was disclosed in a public notice signed by NIS’s spokesperson, DCI KT Udo.
Udo said the closure is due to the scheduled presidential commissioning of the agency’s newly completed Technology Complex.
The Immigration official said services to be affected include passport issuance and renewals requiring biometric capturing, and other immigration and banking services provided at the headquarters.
Udo added that the NIS online portal will remain operational during the shutdown.
“All applicants and members of the public are advised to make necessary arrangements to visit the NIS Headquarters after the said date,” Udo said.
“The NIS online portal will remain operational to serve your needs.”
The official, however, expressed regret over any inconvenience the disruption may cause and thanked the public for their understanding.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary shutdown may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation,” he said.
“For further information or inquiries, kindly call the Service Contact Center lines via +234 802 181 9988, +2324 708 060 7900 or visit the NIS official website at www.immigration.gov.ng.”
