The Commissioner of Police for the Imo State Command, Aboki Danjuma, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Orji Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Udom Godwin, over allegations of conspiracy that led to the escape of a suspected serial rapist, Ihee Andrew.
The redeployment was announced in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Okoye Henry. According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police mandated the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
CSP Seedy Eke Chima has been deployed to take charge as the new DPO of Orji Division. The statement outlined the allegations against CSP Udom Godwin, including conspiracy, aiding and abetting in the escape of the suspected serial rapist, and serious dereliction of duty.
In addition to the redeployment, CSP Udom Godwin and other officers linked to the case have been issued official queries for various offenses, including lack of supervision, failure to send a situation report, disobedience to lawful order, and acts of sabotage and unbecoming conduct.
The command assured the public that the victim would receive the justice she deserves, and further developments on the case will be communicated to the public. The investigation will determine if the officers involved are complicit, and appropriate sanctions will be applied if necessary.
