The Integrity Youth Alliance (IYA) has strongly condemned the Supreme Egbesu Freedom Fighters of Niger Delta (SEFFND) for making baseless allegations of a secret deal between the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mal. Mele Kyari, and former MEND leader High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, known as Tompolo. The IYA defended Mele Kyari, emphasizing NNPC Limited’s commitment to transparency and adherence to global best practices.
In a press release signed by the Board Chairman of IYA, Comrade Adewole Kehinde, the group criticized SEFFND for its mischievous insinuations and highlighted Kyari’s reputation for accountability and transparency. Adewole stated that pipeline surveillance contracts would undergo a competitive tender process, guided by regulatory standards and industry norms.
The IYA praised Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for its significant contributions to reducing crude oil theft in the country. Adewole commended Tantita’s efforts in securing crude oil pipelines in Delta, Bayelsa, and parts of Rivers states, preventing illegal activities and enhancing national security.
Regarding SEFFND’s threat of possible militancy resurgence in the Niger Delta, Adewole called on the Department of State Services to address the matter promptly, considering it a potential threat to national security. He emphasized the need to tackle the threat decisively before it escalates.
The IYA urged security agencies to monitor the leadership of SEFFND closely to prevent any potential vandalism of pipelines across the country. Adewole stressed the importance of maintaining national security and stability in the face of unfounded allegations and threats.
The press release from the Integrity Youth Alliance aimed to set the record straight, defend Mele Kyari’s integrity, and acknowledge the positive impact of Tantita Security Services in combating oil theft in the Niger Delta.
