The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a secessionist group fervently advocating for the creation of the Biafra Republic separate from Nigeria, has made an unequivocal declaration that it will not disband its formidable militant arm. This announcement was made through an official press release by the group’s spokesperson, Mr. Emma Powerful, which was disseminated to the press corps on Monday.
The statement was a direct response to recent assertions from Nigerian security agencies, alleging that IPOB had established camps concealed within the forests. According to these sources, security forces had recently undertaken operations that resulted in the dismantling of an alleged camp jointly operated by IPOB and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) within forested areas in various parts of Anambra and other Southeastern states.
In an unyielding stance, IPOB vehemently refuted these claims, dismissing them as mere government-generated propaganda aimed at tainting the group’s reputation. The group contended that these allegations were part of a calculated effort to unjustly connect any purported criminal hideouts to IPOB. Furthermore, the group boldly proclaimed that it would vigorously resist any such attempts to undermine its cause.
Emma Powerful, the spokesperson for IPOB, emphasized that the existence of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) has played an instrumental role in safeguarding the South East region from the encroachment of marauding Fulani herdsmen. He pointed out that these herdsmen had already overrun states such as Benue and Plateau, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. The ESN, established under the leadership of Supreme Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been resolute in its commitment to shield the Eastern part of the country from the peril posed by these herdsmen.
Since its inception, the ESN has succeeded in fulfilling its primary mission of securing farmlands in the region, thereby preventing the devastating impact witnessed in other parts of Nigeria. The continued existence of this security network underscores IPOB’s steadfast dedication to protecting the interests and safety of its people.
In the face of ongoing tensions and differing perspectives, the Indigenous People of Biafra remains unwavering in its pursuit of autonomy and the establishment of the Biafra Republic, firmly rooted in its determination to defend its principles and secure the well-being of the South East.
