The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a warning to individuals following Simon Ekpa, an acclaimed disciple of Nnamdi Kanu, urging them to reconsider their association before it is too late.
According to IPOB, the Biafra agitation is not intended for criminals and scammers who have been paid by the Nigerian government to create insecurity and criminal activities as a means to discredit IPOB and Kanu.
In a statement released by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, it was revealed that a Biafran rally took place in Finland on July 7 near Ekpa’s residence, but he did not appear.
Commending the hardcore members who attended the rally, Powerful explained that it was part of IPOB’s global sensitization agenda to raise awareness about the plight of Biafrans and the illegal detention of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The group emphasized that similar rallies would continue across Europe.
Expressing disappointment, IPOB stated, “It is unfortunate that during the epic event at Lahti, Finland, the self-acclaimed Biafra Crime Minister was nowhere to be found. Finnish people wondered why the so-called Biafra Prime/crime minister didn’t show up to address his people but chose to hide even when the rally took place in front of his apartment building. We thought he dared IPOB to come and protest in Finland, but at last, he was nowhere to be found. How can a true IPOB member hide from fellow Comrades?”
IPOB cautioned the ignorant followers of Ekpa to reconsider their affiliation before it becomes too late. They emphasized that the Biafra agitation is not meant for criminals and scammers, and those who collude with the compromised Nigerian security and government to enforce non-existent sit-at-home orders will be held accountable in the future.
The group also urged the media to refrain from portraying Simon Ekpa as a factional leader of IPOB, stating that there is no such division within the organization.
IPOB’s spokesperson appealed to the media to stop granting credibility to Ekpa by presenting him as if he were a factional leader of IPOB. They emphasized that IPOB is a well-structured and organized movement led by Biafran volunteers worldwide who seek Biafra’s exit from Nigeria through a referendum.
