A former IPPIS (Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System) desk officer at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Haruna Kolo, has made a shocking admission of collecting money from individuals in exchange for job opportunities within the commission.
During a session with the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee tasked with investigating the mismanagement of IPPIS, Kolo disclosed that he had accepted over 75 million naira in bribes from individuals, as directed by the FCC chairperson, Farida Dankaka.
Kolo further revealed that Dankaka had instructed him to deposit the collected funds into his personal Ecobank account and then deliver the cash to her. He indicated that these transactions occurred during various meetings held at Dankaka’s residence.
Adding to the disturbing revelation, Kolo informed the committee that despite resigning from his position at the FCC in November 2022, he was still receiving a salary from the commission. Shockingly, he had reported this irregularity to the FCC’s human resources officer, who allegedly dismissed the matter, claiming it was not a concern.
This admission by Kolo raises serious concerns about corruption, mismanagement, and ethical violations within the Federal Character Commission, prompting a renewed call for thorough investigations and corrective measures to uphold transparency, fairness, and accountability within government institutions.
“He said, “when she came to Federal Character as the executive Chairman, she appointed me as a protocol officer which I carried out my duty diligently.
“On the allegations of job racketeering, the FCC Chairman instructed me to liaise with one Mr Shehu who is a personal driver and PA to the Taraba state commissioner. As a desk officer, am responsible to take whoever is employed to IPPIS for capturing no one can go there without a letter from the Chairman or Human Resource officer of FCC.
“When she came, she wrote a letter to the Accountant General instructing that no letter from FCC should be honored except she signs the letter. So when ever there were new employment, she signs, give to me and I take to the Accountant General’s office for capturing.
