Jigawa Police Pass Out 272 New Constables, Commissioner Urges Integrity and Professional Conduct

A total of 272 newly trained police constables have officially joined the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Jigawa State, as the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, charged them to serve with integrity, discipline, and respect for human rights.

The event, which took place at the Jigawa State Police Headquarters in Dutse, marked the culmination of months of rigorous training designed to prepare the recruits for the demands of modern policing.

In his address, CP Muhammad congratulated the constables for their resilience and commitment throughout their training, describing their graduation as “the beginning of a lifelong journey of service and sacrifice.”

“This milestone is not merely a personal achievement but a call to serve the people of Jigawa and Nigeria with honesty, professionalism, and courage,” he stated. “Your uniform represents authority, trust, and responsibility — values that must never be taken lightly.”

The Police Commissioner reminded the new officers that their conduct on duty would directly influence public perception of the Nigeria Police Force, urging them to remain disciplined and uphold the core principles of the institution — loyalty, integrity, courage, and respect for human rights.

CP Muhammad cautioned against misconduct, corruption, or abuse of power, noting that the command maintains zero tolerance for unprofessional behavior.

“You must never use your uniform to intimidate or exploit citizens,” he warned. “Instead, be protectors of the people and ambassadors of peace and justice. The uniform you wear is a sacred trust, not a weapon of oppression.”

He further stressed the need for collaboration between the police and the public in addressing emerging security challenges, emphasizing that mutual trust remains the foundation of effective policing.

The passing-out ceremony was attended by senior police officers, family members of the constables, and community leaders, who commended the command for prioritizing discipline and professional development in its ranks.

The new officers are expected to be deployed across various divisions within Jigawa State to strengthen security and improve police visibility in communities.
