Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has engaged the services of prominent legal luminary, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), to lead the legal effort to reclaim his mandate at the Court of Appeal. This decision follows the recent ruling by the Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which nullified Yusuf’s victory and declared Nasir Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election.
Governor Yusuf, dissatisfied with the tribunal’s decision, has filed a 42-ground appeal before the Court of Appeal, seeking to overturn the judgment and dismiss the APC’s petition. Chief Wole Olanipekun, who previously led the legal team for President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), is now the lead counsel for the Kano State governor in this appeal.
Other members of the legal team include Bode Olanipekun (SAN), Ibrahim G. Waru, and Akintola Makinde. The legal firm handling the appeal is Wole Olanipekun & Co, while Chief E.O.B. Offiong continues to represent the APC in the legal proceedings.
