The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission has pledged to uncover the truth regarding the dollar scandal involving former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. The commission has confirmed the arrest of Ganduje’s Commissioner for Works and other individuals in connection with an alleged N1 billion fraud. Speaking to reporters in Kano, the recently reinstated chairman of the commission, Muhuyi Rimin-Gado, stated that there has been significant progress in the investigation and that nothing will hinder their pursuit of the truth.
Rimin-Gado revealed that forensic experts were invited to thoroughly analyze the video clip at the center of the controversy in order to understand its contents. He emphasized that the Kano people remain interested in the Ganduje video saga, and the commission is determined to uncover the facts surrounding it.
The chairman dismissed the ongoing court case related to the matter as insignificant to the commission’s investigation. Regarding the arrest of Ganduje’s commissioner over an alleged N1 billion fraud in road maintenance, Rimin-Gado explained that the money was withdrawn based on a unilateral directive, but the work was not completed.
He further stated that the commissioner and two others are currently in custody and will be prosecuted once the investigations are concluded. However, Ganduje’s Commissioner for Justice, Musa Lawal, criticized the commission’s decision to openly investigate or prosecute the former governor, considering it as an abuse of power.
Lawal argued that no agency has the legal authority to disregard the ongoing court proceedings. It is worth noting that Rimin-Gado had previously declared the commission incapable of investigating the matter before his suspension by Governor Ganduje.
