The Kano State Hisbah Board has taken into custody Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a well-known TikTok personality, on charges of alleged immorality, according to statements made by Aliyu Usman, chairman of Operation ‘Kai da badala’ and Officer-in-charge of Surveillance.
Confirming the arrest to journalists, Usman stated that Kunya was apprehended at her residence in the Tinshama area late on Monday evening after a three-hour wait. He explained that the arrest was made in connection with Kunya’s widely recognized involvement in what authorities describe as immoral acts.
Usman revealed further details about Kunya’s activities, indicating that she is regularly picked up by an individual around 10 pm and returned home by midnight or 1 am. He emphasized that Kunya’s actions are considered contrary to Islamic principles and will be addressed accordingly.
Kunya is set to face charges related to immorality in a Shari’ah Court, according to Usman.
The arrest of Kunya is part of a broader crackdown by the Islamic police, Hisbah, targeting several popular TikTok creators accused of posting indecent content on social media platforms.
