In a joint operation involving the Police in Ethiope-West Local Government Area, Oghara Community youths, and the Local Vigilante, a kidnap victim has been successfully rescued and reunited with his family. The incident took place in Oghara, Delta State.
During the operation, the law enforcement agencies also recovered 20 rounds of 7.62 AK-47 live ammunition from the scene. The Delta State Command, led by CP Wale Abass, confirmed the rescue in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.
According to the statement, the DPO of Oghara police station received information from community members about suspected kidnappers seen in a white Benz GLK with registration number ABC-448-HC in the Ogharake community. The police team quickly launched a patrol in the area and spotted the mentioned vehicle. Upon getting closer to the vehicle, the criminals abandoned it and fled into the nearby bush.
Upon searching the vehicle, the police discovered the 20 rounds of AK-47 ammunition. The subsequent investigation revealed that the victim had been kidnapped earlier in Sapele at the entrance of his apartment around 7:00 PM on the same day.
The victim has since been safely reunited with his family. The police are now conducting a manhunt to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice. The successful rescue operation showcases the collaborative efforts of the community, the local vigilante, and the police in ensuring the safety and security of the region.
