Kizz Daniel, a popular Nigerian musician was earlier arrested after he allegedly failed to perform at a concert he was said to have been paid for last Sunday.
A video had surfaced online showing the singer being led away by police operatives into a van for detention.
Another video showed a disorganized show arena, with concertgoers throwing bottles and other objects on stage.
Following up on the case, the Nigerians In Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), in a Twitter post, confirmed that the singer has been released.
“His legal team will however report back to the police tomorrow while he will subsequently return to Nigeria,” the commission added.
This is not the first time Kizz Daniel would be on the receiving end of public criticism over a concert.
Last month, the singer was billed to perform at a show in the United States but showed up hours late.
Enraged concertgoers screamed for a “refund” while booing the singer on stage when he eventually turned up.
He would later apologise while citing delays with the release of his passport in Nigeria.
