The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state has denied any plans to suspend former Senate President Bukola Saraki, dismissing the rumors as false. The state party Chairman, Babatunde Mohammed, and the state Secretary, Abdulrazaq Lawal, issued a communique after a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) in Ilorin, the state capital.
The party called on its members and supporters to remain calm and ignore the alleged suspension of Saraki, who served as the state’s two-term governor. The communique stated that the rumors were being spread by individuals with malicious intent to create division within the party.
According to the party, the enlarged meeting held on June 1, 2023, to review the outcome of the 2023 general elections had been misconstrued or misrepresented by disgruntled elements. The PDP affirmed its support for Saraki and urged unity among its members and supporters.
