The ongoing crisis within the Labour Party has taken a fresh turn as Abayomi Arabambi, the spokesperson of a factional group, pointed fingers at former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Afenifere leader Ayo Adebanjo, alleging them as the root cause of the party’s internal strife. In a candid interview, Arabambi made startling claims, including a confrontation with Obasanjo at his residence.
According to Arabambi, his rift with Obasanjo began when he presented evidence indicating that Julius Abure, the Labour Party national leader, had allegedly forged the seal of the high court. In response, Arabambi alleged that he faced physical aggression from the former President, who strongly objected to his claims.
Arabambi went on to reveal that he and his group firmly believed that a party led by an individual accused of forgery could not maintain its integrity. However, Obasanjo, Adebanjo, and Peter Obi vehemently opposed their stance, effectively intensifying the Labour Party’s internal strife.
The spokesperson explained, “That was the beginning of the crisis rocking the Labour Party. I was told to shut up and allow Peter Obi to win, and the former governor of Anambra State allegedly endorsed the alleged forgery of the seal of the federal high court by Abure.”
Arabambi’s revelations have added yet another layer of complexity to the ongoing disputes within the Labour Party, which now appear to have deep-seated roots involving prominent political figures. The party’s future remains uncertain as these internal conflicts continue to unravel.
