The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources in Lagos State, Tokunbo Wahab, has declared that legal action will be taken against the 11 employees of 10 POTS Night Club in Lekki. The employees, comprising four males and seven females, were arrested for assaulting state officials and breaking the seal placed by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) due to noise pollution.
Wahab asserted that the arrested individuals, along with the property owner, will be arraigned before appropriate courts on Monday. This legal action is intended to serve as a deterrent to others who might contemplate similar illegal activities.
The incident unfolded when state officials sealed the premises for noise pollution. However, the club employees removed the LASEPA seal and reopened the club within a short time. When attempts were made to reseal the premises, the staffers violently resisted, causing harm to state officials and prompting the call for additional security reinforcements.
