The Imo State Police Command has paraded a 29-year-old man, Emeka Egbuaba, for allegedly killing his friend and harvesting his vital organs to sell to ritualists. Egbuaba, an indigene of Ihitte-Owerre community in Orlu council area of Imo State, was presented alongside other suspects by the state police command.
According to the state police spokesman, Henry Okoye, Egbuaba confessed to being involved in organ trafficking. The case involves the brutal murder and harvesting of the vital body organs of Sixtus Ezebudo, who hailed from Ihitte-Owerre. Egbuaba admitted to luring the victim to an uncompleted building in Orlu Local Government Area, killing him, and then harvesting his lungs, heart, and private part. He subsequently abandoned the victim’s corpse at the scene and escaped to Lagos State with the harvested body parts to sell for ritual purposes. The decomposed remains of the body have been recovered.
The police command’s anti-kidnapping unit arrested Egbuaba at his hideout in Lagos State based on intelligence-led investigations and sustained follow-up. The suspect will face charges of deliberate and premeditated murder once a diligent investigation is completed.
In another case, a 22-year-old man named Obinna Ugochukwu was also arrested for allegedly killing his partner, Nwachukwu Stanley, over a dispute involving their share of $3,000 obtained from a cybercrime deal. Ugochukwu confessed to repeatedly stabbing Stanley with a sharp knife while he was asleep. The victim’s body has been deposited in the morgue.
During questioning, Egbuaba admitted to harvesting his friend’s vital organs, including the liver, heart, and penis, for the sum of N1.5 million.
