In a shocking incident in Kano State, a 28-year-old man named Misbahu Salisu has been arrested for allegedly poisoning his day-old baby girl to death. The motive behind this heinous act was his preference for a male child.
The man, who resides in Doka Baici, Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, was apprehended by the Kano State Hisbah Board on Friday. According to a statement released by the Deputy Commander General of Operations, Dr. Mujahid Aminudeen, the suspect informed Hisbah Board officials that he had administered a local insect killer to the day-old baby.
Disturbingly, the suspect also revealed that he had drugged the baby’s mother, Sa’ade, with a cup of tea containing sleeping tablets before committing the crime. His shocking confession stated that he had a strong preference for a male child, and when his wife gave birth to a female, he resorted to ending the baby girl’s life.
The suspect has now been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution, as this horrific incident continues to shock the local community and raise concerns about gender-based violence.
