The Ondo State Police Command has initiated legal proceedings against a man identified as Bode for the accidental killing of Tunde Akinmoyewa. The incident occurred in Laoso Village, Ondo West Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, the 27-year-old Bode, described as an ex-convict, accidentally shot his friend Tunde Akinmoyewa with a dane gun while testing a newly made local gun on Tuesday. However, an alternate source claimed that the deceased was actually testing a bulletproof charm when the incident happened.
According to the source, Tunde requested that Bode shoot him to assess the effectiveness of the charm. Tragically, after Bode fired the shot, Tunde immediately fell to the ground and died. Bode fled the scene before neighbors arrived, and he has not been apprehended since.
The deceased was rushed to the nearest hospital in the village after being shot, but he was confirmed dead upon arrival.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed that the command had initiated an investigation into the matter. The police are making efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect, whose surname is not yet known. The remains of the deceased have been deposited in a morgue.
