An unspecified number of passengers died yesterday when a truck and diesel tanker collided and exploded into flames in the Enagi area of Edati council of Niger State.
Locals said the resulting fire from the explosion engulfed three cars and six motorcycles with an unspecified number of passengers on board.
The vehicles were burnt alongside three shops, witnesses told The Nation, adding that three bodies were seen at the scene, while several others were burnt beyond recognition.
The Fire Service in Kutigi and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attached to Kutigi helped to put out the fire, and began evacuation of the bodies to the mortuary.
In Anambra, two persons died at the weekend while two others were seriously injured in an accident on Awka-Enugu Expressway in the Ukpo area of the state.
The crash which occurred near Zone 13 police station, involved a Toyota salon and Honda Pilot vehicles with four persons on board.
An eyewitness said the driver of the Honda drove against traffic and rammed into the Toyota on a single carriageway
