The Nigerian military high command has expressed confidence that with the support it is receiving from citizens, the days of criminal elements in the country are numbered. The Defence Headquarters emphasized that criminal elements must either surrender or face the consequences, indicating that the military will continue its operations against them.
According to Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, citizens’ cooperation, collaboration, and support are significantly aiding the military’s efforts and yielding positive results. He urged Nigerians to continue speaking up and providing information about criminal activities in their communities.
In recent weeks, the military has reported a series of successful operations. Troops have neutralized 38 terrorists, arrested 175 gunmen and criminals, apprehended kidnappers and collaborators, rescued kidnapped hostages, and prevented oil theft. Buba highlighted that citizens’ involvement in exposing criminal activities has played a crucial role in achieving these outcomes.
Additionally, the military reported the arrest of 18 suspected members of a criminal gang known as ‘Malians’ in Borno State. The operation resulted in the recovery of substances suspected to be cannabis, cough syrup, and mobile phones.
