The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Barr Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, has expressed her commitment to ensuring that those responsible for the Calabar University sex scandal are prosecuted and brought to justice. She stated that no one would escape justice, and the case would be vigorously pursued to uncover the truth surrounding the controversy.
In a recent interview with journalists, the Minister declared her intent to personally take up the case and ensure that anyone found lying about the matter faces prosecution and potential imprisonment. She emphasized that the identity or status of individuals involved, whether it is the Vice Chancellor, a professor, or the alleged victim, would not exempt them from legal consequences.
The University of Calabar had suspended Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, over violations of the institution’s laws and policies. The suspension took effect from August 17, 2023.
The Minister’s firm stance on prosecuting those responsible for the sex scandal highlights her commitment to ensuring justice and accountability in such cases.
