In a dramatic turn of events, the management of the late Nigerian musician, Ilerioluwa Promise Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, has initiated legal proceedings against his father, Mr Joseph Aloba. The management team has filed a N200 million defamation suit following recent statements made by Mohbad’s father in an interview.
Mr Joseph Aloba claimed that his 26-year-old son left behind a thumbprint-only will that lacked a signature. Mohbad’s management swiftly countered this allegation in a statement, dismissing the purported will as unprecedented and unreal.
With tensions escalating, Mohbad’s management has taken the matter to court, demanding a retraction of what they deem “slanderous” remarks and insisting on a public apology from Mohbad’s father. Additionally, they are seeking N200 million in damages for the alleged defamation.
The legal notice issued by Mohbad’s management stated, “You are to publish the same unqualified apology…within 14 days of this letter with payment of N200,000,000 (Two hundred Million Naira) through this honourable chambers (Bankole Falade & Co) within the set period.” The unfolding legal battle adds another layer of complexity to the aftermath of Mohbad’s passing, as his management seeks redress for what they perceive as damaging and false statements made by his father.
