In a disturbing incident in Isua, the headquarters of Akoko South-West Local Government in Ondo State, two individuals have been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command in connection with the mysterious disappearance of a newborn baby and its placenta. The suspects are identified as Akinjise Ifeoluwa, 40, and Oyewole Margaret, 66, who is not only a herbalist but also the grandmother of the missing baby.
According to a statement from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the incident occurred on December 1, 2023, when a case of suspected murder was reported at Isua Division. Oyewale Oluwaseun, the mother of the newborn, allegedly could not provide a satisfactory account of the baby’s whereabouts.
The complainant, a relative of Oyewale Oluwaseun, revealed that the mother had claimed the baby died and was buried with the assistance of their mother, without informing other family members. The police initiated an investigation and subsequently arrested Akinjise Ifeoluwa in connection with the case.
As the investigation unfolded, it was discovered that Oyewole Margaret, the mother of the missing baby, had entrusted the care of her daughter to Akinjise Ifeoluwa, who not only identified himself as a herbalist but also claimed to be a prophet.
The shocking details revealed that, according to the mother of the missing baby, Akinjise had allegedly instructed her to kill the newborn. During the delivery, the mother and Akinjise maintained constant communication through the phone. Akinjise, who claimed the baby’s existence posed a threat to the mother’s life, allegedly ordered the grandmother to block the baby’s nostrils to ensure its death. Akinjise contended that the baby’s survival would result in the death of the mother, accusing her of infidelity.
After the mother regained her strength, she was informed by her mother (Oyewole Margaret) that the baby had died, and both the baby and the placenta had been buried. However, upon investigation, the purported burial site revealed neither the baby nor the placenta.
The Ondo State Police Command has emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the case unfolds. The shocking nature of the incident has left the community in disbelief, awaiting justice for the missing newborn and answers to the disturbing circumstances surrounding the case.
