In a culinary showdown, Nigerian chef Temitope Adebayo, popularly known as Tope Maggie, has set his sights on breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. This comes in the wake of Irish chef Alan Fisher’s recent triumph, where he completed a cooking marathon lasting 119 hours and 57 minutes, dethroning Nigerian chef Hilda Baci.
Tope Maggie, however, seems poised to reclaim the title for Nigeria. As reported by Oyo Affairs on X platform, Chef Maggie successfully completed an impressive 200-hour cook-a-thon, concluding in the early hours of Saturday, November 18. Supporters cheered him on at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club, opposite LAUTECH College of Health Sciences, Isale-General, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The cook-a-thon commenced on Thursday evening, November 9, and concluded on Saturday morning, November 18. Tope, a graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, where he studied Hotel Management, inherited his culinary skills from his mother, under whom he learned cooking. Presently managing a chain restaurant in Ogbomoso, Tope Maggie awaits confirmation from the Guinness World Records, with congratulatory messages pouring in for his remarkable feat.
This culinary rivalry traces back to November 7 when Saharareporters announced Fisher’s breaking of two Guinness World Records titles, including the world’s longest cooking marathon (individual). Fisher’s record-setting time of 119 hours and 57 minutes surpassed the previous record held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci. As the culinary landscape witnesses these remarkable achievements, the spotlight now remains on Tope Maggie as the anticipation builds for the official confirmation from Guinness World Records.
