The Nigerian Navy has apprehended three individuals accused of planning to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians by using the images of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla. The suspects were allegedly attempting to create the false impression that their security outfit, Gallantry Intelligence Corps of Nigeria, was in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy.
The suspects, identified as Oladele Opeyemi Daniel (23), Eriwole Ogunlana (24), and Mubarak Mayegun (24), were arrested during a patrol in Isolo, Lagos, on September 1. This action followed reports of their fraudulent activities.
Commodore Kolawole Oguntuga, the Commander of Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, announced the arrest in a statement on Tuesday. He emphasized the importance of preventing these individuals from defrauding the public and clarified that the suspects were handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, for further investigation.
Oguntuga urged Nigerians to remain vigilant against dishonest individuals attempting to deceive them and advised the public to be cautious of scams and fraudulent schemes.
The Nigerian Navy emphasized the need to protect innocent youths from illegitimate employment opportunities that exploit them for financial gain.
