The Department of State Services (DSS) in Nigeria has reportedly arrested the Manager of Abuja-Kaduna Kaduna Train Services, Pascal Nnorli, and the Operations Manager, Victor Adamu, along with other staff members. The arrests come after a memo warning of a potential terror attack on the Abuja-Kaduna railway link was leaked.
The DSS had issued a security alert to the Nigerian Railway Corporation, highlighting a plot by bandits to target the Abuja-Kaduna train link. The memo, signed by the Director of the DSS, FCT Command, R.N. Adepemu, urged train passengers to be vigilant and security-conscious.
According to an anonymous source within the Nigerian Railway Corporation, the manager and operations manager were arrested in connection with the leak of the DSS memo. The source indicated that the memo, which contained sensitive information about the attack, was addressed to the Managing Director of the NRC and explicitly warned of potential arrests if the memo were to be leaked.
The source revealed that the letter was allegedly dropped off at Pascal’s office, and from there, it was leaked and went viral. While the exact reason for the arrests is yet to be confirmed officially, it is suggested that they may be related to the leaked memo.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Fidet Okhiria, declined to comment on the matter. The incident highlights the concerns surrounding the security of critical infrastructure and the potential consequences of leaked security information.
