A distressing incident occurred over the weekend when a young 18-year-old Nigerian television personality, who worked at a private station in Lapai, Niger State, became a victim of a brutal sexual assault. After concluding her shift, she received a call instructing her to go to Kobo Primary School in the community, located about 150 kilometers west of Abuja, the Nigerian capital.
Upon arriving at the school, the assailants forcibly drugged her and subjected her to a series of rapes in one of the classrooms. The perpetrators also confiscated her phone and searched it, even though early and middle schools are closed on weekends.
For the sake of her privacy, the victim’s identity is being withheld, but a family member stated that she plans to come forward and share her story after receiving proper medical treatment.
Despite the horrifying ordeal, the brave young woman was able to identify one of her attackers, leading to the arrest of two individuals. However, the police investigation is ongoing, and they are working to apprehend more suspects.
Police spokesman Abiodun Wasiu stated that the investigation is still underway, and they will provide updates to the public as they progress in the case. The identities of the suspects will be revealed soon, and it remains unclear if they have legal representation at this time.
