Nigerian troops, operating as part of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), have conducted successful operations in Plateau, Bauchi, and Kaduna states. During these operations, they killed six kidnappers, arrested gunrunners, and apprehended numerous suspected criminals.
Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) is tasked with maintaining peace and security in the region. The troops have been actively combating criminal activities such as kidnapping, farm destruction, armed robbery, gunrunning, and illicit drug trafficking, among others.
According to Captain Oya James, the media officer of the operation, 54 suspected criminals were arrested in connection with various crimes. Among these arrests were three kidnappers and a suspected bandit, Dauda Tahiru, linked to an attack on Heipang village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.
Additionally, troops tracked down and apprehended a notorious gunrunner known as Da Nyam and another individual in Kwang/Kafanchan communities of Jos South and Jema’a LGAs, spanning Plateau and Kaduna states. This operation resulted in the recovery of firearms and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle, rounds of special ammunition, and a DICON-graded AK-47 rifle.
In other operations, two herders, Musa Mamuda and Musa Alhaji, were arrested for farm destruction in Yagbak village, Zangon Kataf. The troops also recovered 27 cows in Bokkos LGA of Plateau State.
Furthermore, 41 drug dealers were apprehended at Congo Russia in Jos North, and they are currently in custody for further action by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
These successful operations highlight the efforts of Nigerian security forces in combating criminal activities and maintaining peace in the region.
