The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced its plans to inaugurate the $2.8 billion Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano gas pipeline in December. The project, being constructed by Oilserve Limited, is a significant part of Nigeria’s Gas Master Plan. Oritsemiyiwa Eyesan, the Executive Vice President, Upstream, NNPC Limited, expressed the company’s commitment to the timely completion of the project during the 41st Nigeria Association of Petroleum Explorationists 2023 expo in Lagos. Eyesan emphasized the NNPC’s determination to drive more investments into the oil and gas sector, with the AKK gas pipeline set to make a substantial impact.
Eyesan assured the public that there would be a noticeable improvement in NNPC’s operations, signaling a proactive approach to driving investments. The AKK gas pipeline is expected to contribute to Nigeria’s energy infrastructure and enhance the country’s gas distribution network. The completion of the project is crucial to advancing Nigeria’s energy goals.
While investors are reportedly ready to invest in the gas pipeline project, Eyesan highlighted the challenges posed by insecurity as a factor affecting the project’s timeline. She urged the government to address security concerns and implement measures to stabilize the national currency, emphasizing the importance of creating a conducive environment for investments in the oil and gas sector.
