Former President Muhammadu Buhari has asserted that there is no evidence to support the claim that his government was ever hijacked by a cabal. In an interview aired on the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Buhari challenged Nigerians to point out instances where a cabal influenced his administration’s decisions.
“Why didn’t they talk?” he questioned during the interview, maintaining that he never interfered with the duties of his ministers. Buhari stated that he had no evidence of anyone misusing public resources without facing consequences, emphasizing that he allowed people to perform their roles as he understood them.
The former president expressed confidence in his governance approach, stating that if given the opportunity to lead again, he would not alter his methods. Buhari’s remarks come amid longstanding public discourse about the influence of a perceived “cabal” in the decision-making processes of the Nigerian government during his tenure.
