The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) informed the Presidential Election Tribunal in Abuja that certain documents requested by Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, do not exist. Obi and the LP are challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu, alleging irregularities.
During the court proceedings, one of Obi’s witnesses, Ms. Loretta Ogah, an ICT cloud engineer and former candidate for the House of Representatives on the Labour Party platform in Cross River State, testified that she took legal action against INEC after losing the election. Ogah claimed that INEC did not list her name on its portal due to network failure. However, under cross-examination, she admitted that no glitches occurred on INEC’s portal on the election day of February 25.
The respondents in the petition include INEC, President Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The court, presided over by Justice Haruna Tsammani, adjourned further hearing to the following day.
