In a significant development, the Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba has ordered that a 37-year-old auxiliary nurse, Fisayo Ogedengbe, be sent back to custody in connection with the controversial death of hip-hop artist Mohbad, whose real name is Ilerioluwa Aloba. The nurse is alleged to have administered injections to the late singer, resulting in his death.
Additionally, the court has also ordered the return of Mohbad’s friend, Ayobani Sadiq, who is considered a suspect in the case, to police custody.
However, the magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, granted bail to Mohbad’s ex-boss, Azeez Fashola, known as Naira Marley, and a Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, also called Sam Larry, who were implicated in Mohbad’s death and detained by the police on October 6. Each of them was granted bail in the sum of N20 million, with three responsible sureties in like sum. One of the sureties must own a landed property. As part of the bail conditions, the defendants are required to surrender their passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Magistrate Olatunbosun emphasized that no one should attempt to contact her directly regarding the case, and any such attempts would be recorded and potentially disclosed in open court proceedings.
The police have indicated that their investigation into the case is still ongoing, leading to an adjournment of the case until November 29 for legal advice from the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
