The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has distanced himself from the mysterious figures allegedly giving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hope in their tribunal case. Wike made this statement during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
On a recent development, the Presidential Election Petitions Court upheld Bola Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election. During the interview, Wike, while commending the judges for their work, unequivocally stated that President Tinubu had won the election fairly.
Wike expressed his confusion regarding the undisclosed individuals or groups instilling optimism into the PDP’s tribunal case. He recounted an incident during the tribunal proceedings related to Shettima’s case at the Supreme Court. As a member of the board of trustees, Wike disclosed sending a text message urging prayer for the upcoming day.
He stated, “I don’t know who is behind it and giving them all kinds of hope. I don’t know whether the pastors, the imams, I don’t know who is tipping who, who is not telling them the truth.”
Wike also pointed out the disparity between the judgments rendered in the court and the narrative on social media. He criticized those who did not attend tribunal sittings but spread misleading information online, insinuating that there might be attempts to intimidate judges to obtain favorable judgments.
In a startling revelation, Wike mentioned a video where a pastor reportedly displayed pictures of the judges in court and called upon the congregation to pray against them, raising concerns about the influence of religious figures on the judicial process.
