The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has sadly verified the tragic death of two corps members in a motor accident. The deceased individuals, identified as Giveth Nzubechukwu Okwuowulu and Ada, both from Anambra, lost their lives when the vehicle they were traveling in veered off a bridge and plunged into a river.
The accident occurred at the boundary between Ugbawka and Nara in Nkanu Local Government Area of Enugu State on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. The corps members were en route to Calabar from Onitsha for their primary assignment when the incident happened.
Andrew Zemoh, the Coordinator of NYSC in Cross River State, confirmed the incident on Thursday, June 8, 2023. He clarified that only two members of the corps lost their lives in the crash, contrary to reports circulating on social media.
Zemoh further revealed that the parents and other officials have already evacuated the bodies and deposited them in a mortuary. Giveth Okwuowulu, aged 25, will be laid to rest on June 14, 2023, in her hometown of Otolo Nnewi, located in Nnewi Local Government Area.
