In a remarkable display of commitment to quality education and the development of the state’s civil and public service, Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki announced the provision of automatic employment for 12 first-class graduating students at Edo State University, Uzairue during the university’s fifth convocation ceremony held in Etsako West Local Government Area.
Governor Obaseki emphasized his government’s unwavering dedication to fostering a skilled and capable workforce to drive ongoing reforms and overall progress within the state. He stated, “As usual, all those 12 students that made a first-class in this set have automatic employment into Edo State Civil Service; your job is waiting for you. We have made it a standard that any graduate from any of our universities in Edo State who makes a first-class should be given automatic employment in our public and civil service. We want to build quality manpower.”
Furthermore, Governor Obaseki praised Edo State University’s achievements, particularly highlighting the institution’s pivotal role in teaching and research throughout Nigeria. He commended the university for its contributions to the academic and personal growth of its graduates, emphasizing the cultivation of values such as critical thinking and integrity.
Governor Obaseki affirmed his government’s commitment to investing in education and pledged to provide essential infrastructure to the school of medical sciences in the next year’s budget. Additionally, he revealed the deployment of fiber optic internet connectivity to support the use of technology for enhanced learning at the university.
The Vice Chancellor of Edo State University, Professor Engr. Emmanuel Aluyor, credited the university’s successes to Governor Obaseki, who serves as the visitor to the institution, applauding his sustained investments in the education sector.
The Chancellor of the university, Prof Emeritus Thomas Okpo K. Audu, lauded the governor for creating an enabling environment and offering critical support, further underscoring the governor’s pivotal role in the university’s achievements and growth.
