The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed a press briefing organized by Senator Gbenga Daniel’s media team, calling it “misleading” and accusing him of spreading falsehood regarding his suspension from the party.
In a statement signed by Nuberu Adesanya Olufemi, Director of Publicity for Ogun APC, the party said the individuals Daniel presented as APC leaders in Ogun East were unknown to the party. “The list of people his team is calling ‘APC leaders’ in Ogun East is fake. These individuals are coordinators for his Gateway Foundation. Not a single Ward Chairman or Local Government Chairman is on that list,” Olufemi explained.
The party also disputed Daniel’s claim about his ward, noting that INEC records show he belongs to Ward 04 in Sagamu Local Government, contradicting the senator’s team.
Ogun APC said Daniel’s suspension followed confirmed anti-party activities, alleging he “colluded with the opposition to undermine his party.” The party stressed that Daniel ignored multiple summons and chose not to defend himself before party organs. “He was given ample opportunity to respond to the allegations, but he declined,” the statement added.
The party emphasized that due process was followed in his suspension, supported by reports from his ward and local government endorsed by the respective chairmen and secretaries. “The senator was found culpable by his own ward for working against the party,” it noted.
Ogun APC described the matter as strictly internal, accusing Daniel’s camp of politicizing it ahead of the 2027 elections. The party also highlighted that the same State Working Committee (SWC) Daniel now criticizes had previously approved his Senate candidacy without complaint.
The party further stated that the appeal window has closed, adding that Daniel’s supporters can continue their protests online. It also questioned Daniel’s connection to the grassroots, asking, “Since he became a Senator, when has he returned to his party constituency for feedback?”
The party concluded that Daniel’s suspension stands unless reversed through proper internal channels.
