The Department of State Services (DSS) has initiated a comprehensive investigation into allegations of fraud and controversial associations involving the Secretary to Ogun State Government (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi. The probe, which lasted for five hours, took place at the DSS state command headquarters in Abeokuta on Friday.
Talabi’s involvement with Superflux Printing Limited, a company that has been mired in a series of controversies, is at the center of the investigation. The SSG has been alleged to have connections with the said company, raising concerns about potential improprieties. Superflux Printing Limited’s name has been linked to contentious matters, including the Covid-19 palliative controversy and its purported role in the 2023 elections.
Sources reveal that the scrutiny by the DSS was intensified following a petition filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome. This petition, which has been submitted to various authoritative bodies such as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Code of Conduct Bureau, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, underscores the need for a thorough examination of the alleged links between the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a printing enterprise reportedly owned by Talabi during the recent electoral proceedings.
In response to these allegations, it is reported that Talabi himself filed a counter-petition. This action prompted the DSS to delve deeper into the matter, aiming to clarify the claims and counterclaims surrounding the SSG’s associations and activities.
The focal point of the investigation revolved around Superflux Printing Limited, a company entangled in the Covid-19 palliative controversy. The DSS reportedly interrogated Talabi on matters related to financial transactions involving Ogun State. Furthermore, the agency sought to ascertain the extent of the company’s involvement in the highly anticipated 2023 elections.
This development highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity in government affairs. The investigation underscores the importance of impartial and thorough examinations of allegations to maintain public trust and uphold the rule of law. As the inquiry continues, the outcome will likely shed light on the veracity of the allegations and determine any necessary actions based on the findings.
