Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu amidst recent reports suggesting disloyalty. Mr. Aiyedatiwa took charge of the state’s affairs while Governor Akeredolu received medical treatment in Germany for an undisclosed ailment.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mr. Aiyedatiwa dismissed reports of disloyalty as false and an attempt to sow discord between him and the governor. He attributed these reports to anonymous groups and individuals in the state with political motives.
The statement, released by Mr. Aiyedatiwa’s spokesperson, Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson, emphasized the deputy governor’s loyalty to Governor Akeredolu and maintained that fabricated lies would not alter this loyalty.
The statement read: “The deputy governor remains loyal to his principal and no amount of fabricated lies will change that. We need to remind the public that this is a continuation of the blackmail started by these same characters some months ago, with false stories planted in some media outlets against the deputy governor. However, since those lies did not yield the result they envisaged, the blackmailers have returned with fake stories about disloyalty, aimed at causing disaffection between him and the governor.”
Mr. Aiyedatiwa also highlighted that he maintains regular contact with Governor Akeredolu on official state matters, dispelling any notion of a rift between them.
In a separate development, Governor Akeredolu has disbanded the media team of the deputy governor, instructing all members of the press crew to return to their respective ministries and stations. The dismissal is effective immediately, and the appointees are directed to surrender any government property in their possession to the Acting Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor.
The affected aides include Press Secretary to the Governor, Kenneth Odusola; Special Assistant to Governor (New Media) Okunniga Oladipupo; and Special Assistant to the Governor (Photography) Abayomi Samson Adefolalu.
