Samuel Ortom, the Benue State Governor has reacted to his exclusion from the list of nominees for National Honours.
It was recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had on October 11, conferred some Nigerians and friends of the country with the national awards of the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger, GCON, Commander of the Order of Niger, CON, and Commander of the Order Of the Federal Republic, CFR, among others.
Following the development, a group known as Movement for Good Governance and Democracy, questioned why the Benue governor was not listed among the beneficiaries of the national awards.
Reacting in a statement on Monday issued by his Spokesman, Terver Akase, Governor Ortom said his focus is on serving the people of the State.
Governor Ortom asserted that he is satisfied with the honour and constant support Benue people have given him to succeed since 2015.
The governor appealed to the concerned individuals and groups not to make an issue out of the awards but rather pray for him to continue to play his role of serving Benue State and the country.
He, however, appreciated the group, his supporters and other Nigerians who have expressed concerns that he should have been on the list for the national honours.
