In a major victory for Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts, troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed no fewer than 60 terrorists during a coordinated land and air offensive in Bita, Borno State.
The Nigerian Army made the announcement via a statement posted on its official Facebook page early Friday, May 30, 2025. The operation, which began in the early hours of the day, was described as a “decisive and coordinated assault” targeting insurgent positions in the area.
The brief statement read:
“In a decisive and coordinated operation, gallant troops of Operation Hadin Kai launched a simultaneous land and air assault on terrorist positions in Bita, Borno State, in the early hours of today. The intense battle resulted in the neutralization of at least 60 terrorists.”
This latest offensive adds to a string of recent successful military operations in the North-East. Earlier in the week, troops reportedly killed dozens of Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in New Marte, located in the Marte Local Government Area of Borno State.
However, the military also confirmed that two soldiers lost their lives during the earlier encounter, paying the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
The Nigerian Army continues its relentless efforts to restore peace and security to the troubled region.
