The Oyo State Police Command have detained gunmen who kidnapped Christopher Bakare, the supervisor of a farm, which belongs to the late former governor of the state, Adebayo Alao-Akala, and other residents of the state, have been arrested.
The command made this disclosure on Friday.
According to the police department there has been some kidnapping cases in the last two weeks.
It was gathered that Bakare was abducted from the farm of late Alao-Akala on Saturday, 16 July at Jabata in Surulere Local Government Area of the state.
A private hospital owner identified as Baba Rasheed was also abducted on Friday 22 July this year in the same local government area.
A hotelier and one of his staff were also kidnapped at Aba area in Ogbomoso town yesterday, Thursday, 28 July.
The state police command has however said that some suspects have been arrested in connection with the recent abductions.
Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Adewale Osifeso in a statement, said that the suspects were arrested on Friday ,today,.
Osifeso said that eight suspects were arrested in connection with the abduction of Bakare and the private hospital owner.
The eight suspects arrested in connection with the duo of Bakare and Dr. Rasheed are; Anjola Abubakar, Sani Abacha Abdullahi, Sani Abacha Jafaru, Sale Mohammadu, Isah Seriki Muhammed, Aliu Jafaru, Umar Abubakar and Mustapha Baruguma
The command said, “To this end, Today, Friday 29/07/2022, the Command accounts for some of its recent feats as it upholds its statutory mandate of protecting lives and property through the systematic fusion of intelligence-driven investigations.
Osifeso while speaking further said that nine other suspects were also arrested in connection with abduction in some local government areas in the state.
The suspects included; Umar Jale Usman, Abdullahi Mohammed Sani, Jamiu Jubril, Kayode Kolade, Leggi Usman, Jamiu Iroko, Sule Bello, Umar Shuaibu, and Kali Weti.
The command maintained that the nine suspects were responsible for the abduction of some residents around Iganna, Iwere-ile, and Ijio town in the Iwajowa Local Government Area of the state.
The exhibits recovered from the nine suspects included; one Dane gun, one expended cartridge, a detachable head hood (black), a pair of slippers, and the sum of N12,000.
