The leader of the pan-Yoruba sociocultural organization, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has issued a warning to Governor Seyi Makinde regarding his attempt to intervene in the perceived crisis within the Afenifere fold.
Governor Makinde had disclosed that efforts were underway by some frontline leaders in Afenifere to resolve the differences between the two leaders of the group, Pa Reuben Fasoranti and Pa Ayo Adebanjo. However, Pa Adebanjo cautioned the governor against meddling in the affairs of the association.
He stated that Governor Makinde should not interfere in matters he is not fully aware of and expressed that he has no dispute with Pa Fasoranti. Pa Adebanjo firmly opposed any attempt to split Afenifere, emphasizing that it goes against his principles.
Governor Makinde had expressed his commitment to fostering unity in Yorubaland, stating that once the two leaders come together, the desired unity for Yorubaland and Nigeria would be achieved swiftly.
However, Pa Adebanjo’s response indicates his disapproval of Governor Makinde’s involvement and his insistence on maintaining the unity of Afenifere. The situation highlights the ongoing complexities and dynamics within the sociopolitical landscape of the Yoruba community.
