A surprising turn of events unfolded when the parents of a young woman, identified as Rita from Sandfill 2 in the Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, arrived at her residence with a casket after being deceived into believing she had passed away.
According to reliable sources, Rita had cunningly convinced her parents (names withheld) that she had succumbed to a prolonged illness.
In their grief-stricken state, the distraught parents went ahead and purchased a casket for their daughter’s funeral.
Rita, a single mother of three, had fallen ill following the tragic death of her fiancé two years prior. In search of a remedy, she sought the assistance of a pastor who promised to heal her for a fee of N30,000.
Despite her pleas, Rita’s parents did not provide the financial support she needed. Consequently, she orchestrated a plan with her neighbors to inform her parents of her supposed demise.
Upon hearing the news, Rita’s parents hastily acquired a casket to lay their daughter to rest.
The situation took a dramatic turn when the casket arrived at Rita’s residence, and her parents were astounded to discover that she was alive.
“The parents were completely shocked upon seeing their daughter alive,” an eyewitness recounted.
The ensuing confusion attracted a crowd of neighbors and passersby who intervened to restore peace and diffuse the embarrassment between the parents and their daughter.
It should be noted that such an incident is considered taboo in the area, and as a result, the casket had to be destroyed before Rita’s parents took her home along with her children.
