The General Overseer of Agape Evangelical Ministries (City of Miracles) located at Obikabia Junction in Aba, Abia State, has been arrested by the police in connection with the death of a married female member of his church. The deceased, identified as “Evangelist Happiness,” was discovered dead in a hotel room where she had lodged with the pastor.
The incident occurred at Jubilee Guest House in Ovom, Ogborhill, around 11 pm on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Reports indicate that the pastor had booked the room with the woman and left the hotel after deceiving the receptionist by claiming to go buy food at an unusual hour.
Upon finding the woman dead and suspecting foul play, the hotel manager promptly reported the situation to the Eastern Ngwa Police Station in Obingwa Local Government Area. When the police arrived at the scene, they discovered the deceased woman lying naked with foam emanating from her mouth and nose.
Further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death revealed that she had a romantic relationship with the pastor, Bishop Timothy Otu, who founded Agape Evangelical Ministries Incorporated. Text messages exchanged between the two were uncovered by the police, indicating the nature of their relationship.
Tragically, it is believed that the woman died during what appears to have been a marathon sexual encounter with the pastor. Following leads, the police traced Bishop Timothy Otu to his church at Obikabia Junction and attended his Sunday service. The arrest was made immediately after his sermon, where he was heavily preaching about repentance. He is currently being held at the Eastern Ngwa Police Station in Obingwa.
The late Evangelist Happiness, a mother of five, hailed from Umuatakawom in Obingwa, Abia State. Her husband was reportedly away at work in Bayelsa State when the incident occurred. The community has been left in shock by the tragedy, and this incident highlights the importance of a thorough and impartial investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding her untimely death.
