The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed confidence in the election petition tribunal’s ability to deliver a just verdict on the petition filed by its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, challenging the outcome of the 2023 presidential election. The tribunal made this decision after adopting the final written address presented by the PDP and its candidate.
Earlier, H.E. Atiku Abubakar, the Vice President of Nigeria (1999-2007) and presidential candidate of the PDP in the February 25, 2023 Election, alongside other party leaders and members, appeared before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) in Abuja.
The purpose of their appearance was to attend the adoption of the final written address in the petition lodged by the PDP, contesting the declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, H.E. Abubakar Badaru Ahmed, as the President of Nigeria by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Following the adoption of the final written address, the PEPC has reserved judgment on the matter. The court will communicate the date of the judgment to the concerned parties involved in the case.
The PDP remains hopeful that the court will deliver a fair and unbiased judgment on this crucial matter. The outcome of the tribunal’s decision will determine the future course of action for the party and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
