The Nasarawa State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Adamu Ninga, has expressed confidence that the opposition party will emerge stronger, more united, and better prepared for future elections after its forthcoming national convention scheduled for November 15–16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking to journalists in Lafia after an expanded meeting of the State Executive Council, Ninga described the upcoming convention as a turning point in the PDP’s quest to reclaim power both at the national and state levels. He said the exercise would not only produce new national officers but also reignite the party’s spirit of internal democracy and inclusiveness.
“We are more united and determined than ever to reclaim our rightful place in Nigerian politics,” Ninga said confidently. “This convention will strengthen our internal cohesion, reconcile differences, and open a fresh chapter of progress for the PDP, especially here in Nasarawa State.”
He assured party members that under his leadership, every stakeholder would be given equal opportunity to participate in party activities and aspire to elective positions without fear or favoritism.
According to him, the forthcoming national convention will serve as a platform for reconciliation and reorganization, helping the PDP reposition itself for victory in the 2027 general elections.
Ninga emphasized that Nasarawa State delegates would represent the state responsibly at the convention and contribute meaningfully to the election of credible leaders capable of steering the PDP to national success.
He also revealed that the party had allocated four delegate slots to women from each of the 13 local government areas of the state, underscoring the PDP’s commitment to gender inclusion and wider representation in decision-making processes.
“Our goal is to build a PDP that truly reflects the will of the people. Inclusiveness, transparency, and discipline are our guiding principles,” he added.
Party stakeholders at the meeting reportedly pledged to work together ahead of the convention, dismissing speculation of factional division within the Nasarawa PDP.
As the PDP prepares for its Ibadan convention, the party appears determined to regain lost ground and present a united front against the ruling APC, which has dominated national politics since 2015.
