The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-East zone has announced the commencement of a reconciliation process for members who defected to other political parties. This initiative is part of the party’s broader efforts to reclaim its political standing in the region.
During a zonal meeting in Enugu, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, who serves as the leader of the party in the zone, emphasized the importance of consolidating the PDP’s support base. He acknowledged the presence of former PDP members in various political parties and expressed the need to bring them back into the fold.
Governor Mbah urged party leaders and faithful in the region to rise to the task of recovering lost ground and rebuilding the PDP to its pre-eminent position. He emphasized the significance of revisiting the party’s financial, administrative, and operational strategies to achieve this goal.
The Governor highlighted the historical and political role played by the PDP in the country, asserting that it was time for the party to craft a strategy to regain the “pole position” it had previously occupied. He emphasized the need for consolidation and reaching out to aggrieved members, creating an inclusive environment for the party’s resurgence.
As the PDP in the South-East initiates the reconciliation process, it aims to strengthen its unity, rebuild its support base, and position itself for future political engagements in the region.
